The Muslim World League (MWL) has called for the immediate protection of civilians in Gaza and reaffirmed support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution. According to Arab News, the Muslim World League made the statement at a high-level UN meeting in New York on Monday, 29 September 2026. The MWL Secretary-General said the suffering in Gaza must end immediately and called for urgent international action to protect civilians. The statement comes as the Palestinian death toll from the nearly three-year Israel-Hamas war has surpassed 74,000, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also slammed Israel's atrocities in Gaza, saying "Nothing is justifying this" and accusing Israel of undermining Doha's ceasefire efforts from day one. The Muslim World League reiterated that a lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The World Health Organization says nearly 700 people have been killed in Yemen since fighting escalated last month. Stay tuned to Islam Global News for the latest Palestine and Islamic World updates.
