Houthis Claim Missile and Drone Attacks on Saudi Airports and Aramco Facility
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — October 6, 2026: Yemen’s Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for a series of missile and drone attacks targeting key locations in Saudi Arabia, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, an Aramco refinery in Rabigh and military sites in the south of the kingdom.
According to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, the group said it carried out three operations using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. The group claimed that one operation targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and another targeted an Aramco refinery in Rabigh. It also claimed attacks against Abha Airport and the Khamis Mushait military base.
The Houthis said the attacks were carried out in response to Saudi-led military operations against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen. However, the claims could not be independently verified, and there was no immediate confirmation from Saudi authorities regarding the reported strikes.
The latest escalation comes as Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces launch a major offensive against Houthi positions around the strategically important Bab el-Mandeb Strait and Yemen’s Red Sea coast. The developments have raised fresh concerns over regional security and the safety of critical energy and shipping infrastructure.
The situation is being closely watched because further attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure or airports could have wider implications for regional air travel, oil markets and international shipping.
Islam Global News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as verified information becomes available.
