Religious gatherings and educational activities are planned across Monrovia to strengthen Islamic learning and community engagement.
Liberia is preparing to host a weeklong Islamic programme featuring religious scholar Sheikh Abdullah Koita, with activities scheduled from October 27 to November 3, 2026.
The programme was announced by the Al-Noon Foundation for Islamic and Development in Liberia. According to a report published by Global News Network Liberia on October 26, the initiative aims to encourage Islamic learning, spiritual reflection and community development.
The activities are being organised under the theme “Allah Is the Light.”
Religious Activities Planned Across Monrovia
According to the organisers' announced schedule, Sheikh Koita is expected to arrive in Liberia on October 27.
A special prayer session is planned for October 29 in the Black Gina community. Further activities are scheduled for October 30 at Newport Street Mosque in Monrovia, followed by a gathering at the Executive Pavilion on October 31.
The programme is expected to continue through November 3. Organisers have indicated that additional details about the concluding activities may be announced later.
Focus on Islamic Education and Community Unity
The foundation says the programme is intended to deepen participants' understanding of Islamic teachings and encourage them to apply Islamic principles in their daily lives.
Religious gatherings can also provide opportunities for community members to exchange knowledge, strengthen social connections and discuss the importance of peace, mutual respect and moral responsibility.
The programme reflects the role that local Islamic organisations play in supporting religious education and community engagement in West Africa.
What to Watch Next
The next important development will be confirmation of the programme's opening activities and details of Sheikh Koita's public engagements.
As the events progress, further reporting could establish attendance figures, the topics covered in the lectures and any community initiatives announced during the visit.
Editorial note: The dates and activities in this report are based on the schedule announced by the organisers and reported by Global News Network Liberia. They should not be interpreted as confirmation that the events have already taken place.
