Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Riyadh on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The meeting comes amid months-long tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the Yemen conflict and Houthi attacks on Saudi territory. According to Saudi state media, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman extended the invitation to Sheikh Mansour, and UAE state news agency WAM confirmed that Mansour accepted and traveled to Riyadh for a fraternal visit on 29 September 2026. In Riyadh, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Sheikh Mansour discussed bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the UAE and ways to strengthen them across various fields, Khaleej Times reported. Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defence, also met with Sheikh Mansour to discuss fraternal relations. The invitation marks a significant diplomatic move amid escalating Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, as Riyadh seeks to rebuild Gulf cooperation against a shared security threat. Saudi Arabia faces fresh pressure as Houthi forces have targeted its oil infrastructure, including the East-West pipeline that feeds the Red Sea port of Yanbu. The Kingdom resumed oil loadings from Yanbu on 29 September after restarting the pipeline, according to trade sources. The high-level meeting is the first public face-to-face invitation between the two Gulf allies since the rift over Yemen emerged. Analysts say the meeting signals efforts to restore unity within the GCC as Red Sea security and Hormuz shipping face threats. UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed is also Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. His visit was described by WAM as a fraternal visit at the invitation of the Saudi Defence Minister. The talks in Riyadh are expected to focus on Yemen de-escalation, Red Sea security, and coordination on oil exports, which rebounded to 16.3 million barrels per day in September.
