The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned in the strongest terms the approval by the Israeli occupation government of 34 new colonial settlements in the occupied West Bank, in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334. According to a Global Security and OIC official statement dated 10-04-2026, the OIC General Secretariat condemned the decision on October 4, 2026, from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The OlC stated that the Israeli decision represents a flagrant violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which considers Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territory illegal. The OIC, which represents 57 Muslim-majority nations, has consistently condemned Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem as an obstacle to peace and a violation of Palestinian rights. The condemnation comes amid rising tensions across the occupied territories, with Israeli forces continuing military operations in Gaza and the West Bank. The OIC has called for immediate international intervention to halt settlement activities. The organization also urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and take necessary measures to compel Israel to stop its illegal settlement policies and respect international law. The approval of 34 new settlements is seen as part of Israel's continued policy of colonization in the occupied Palestinian territories, which the OIC considers a war crime under international humanitarian law. The OIC reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
