Qatar PM Criticises Israel Over Gaza Roadmap at UN Meeting
NEW YORK, September 23, 2026: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has criticised Israel’s rejection of a proposed roadmap for Gaza during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The meeting focused on international efforts to advance a two-state solution and address the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Sheikh Mohammed called for greater international pressure to ensure the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire framework and the proposed roadmap. Qatar said the plan is intended to address key issues including security arrangements, Israeli military withdrawal, Gaza’s administration and reconstruction.
The Qatari prime minister also reiterated Doha’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The discussions come as diplomatic efforts continue at the UN General Assembly over the future of Gaza, the ceasefire process and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Qatar has continued to play a role in diplomatic efforts surrounding the Gaza conflict, alongside other regional and international actors.
