RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - In a shocking escalation targeting the heart of Saudi Arabia, at least 12 civilians were martyred and over 300 injured after an Iran-backed Houthi militia launched a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on the night of October 10, 2026.
Saudi authorities confirmed the casualties on Saturday morning, stating that the missile struck the civilian terminal area.
The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, issued a strong condemnation, stating:
“I strongly condemn the continuing attacks against civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Ansar Allah (Houthis), including the latest attack on 10 October against King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed 12 people and injured over 300, according to Saudi authorities. This follows attacks earlier this week on Riyadh and Abha airports.”
Islamic World Reacts:
This heinous attack on the land of the Two Holy Mosques comes just days after the historic Mecca Pact was activated on October 8. Under the pact, Turkey and Pakistan have pledged to send defensive and technical forces to protect Makkah and Madinah.
Following the Riyadh Airport attack, the Saudi-led coalition retaliated with a large-scale operation, announcing it had destroyed 136 Houthi military targets and 3 ballistic missile platforms in Sanaa, Yemen, on October 10 morning.
Security has been tightened across all airports in the Kingdom, and flights resumed after a brief suspension.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is expected to address the nation. The Arab League and OIC have called the attack on civilian infrastructure a war crime and a provocation against the entire Muslim Ummah.
Dua for the victims.
