The Haj Committee of India announced the tentative schedule for Hajj 2026, providing pilgrims with details on the application process, package costs and embarkation arrangements. The Haj Committee is the official body responsible for organising and facilitating the Hajj pilgrimage for Indian Muslims, and its announcements set the framework within which state-level arrangements and embarkation schedules are coordinated.
For pilgrims from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra, the application process was conducted through the official portal hajcommittee.gov.in. The portal serves as the central point for registration, document submission and fee payment for pilgrims applying through the government quota.
As per early reports, the Hajj 2026 package cost was around Rs 3,80,000 to Rs 4,25,000 for the Azizia category. The Azizia category refers to accommodation located in the Azizia district of Mecca, which is further from Masjid al-Haram than the closer Mina categories but remains within the pilgrimage zone. The package included flights, accommodation in both Mecca and Medina, and food for the duration of the pilgrimage.
Pilgrims travelling from the Coimbatore and Chennai embarkation points were subject to a slightly higher package price, reflecting the operational costs associated with those departure locations. Pilgrims from Tamil Nadu would typically use these embarkation points, making the pricing difference relevant to a significant portion of the state's applicants.
The application deadline for Hajj 2026 has passed. Pilgrims planning for future years should monitor hajcommittee.gov.in for updated registration dates and official information as each year's schedule is announced.
For reference, the application process through the official portal involves four steps: visiting hajcommittee.gov.in and selecting Haj Registration; uploading a valid passport, photograph and Aadhaar card; and paying the application fee as specified on the portal at the time of registration. Pilgrims are advised to follow the official portal closely, as documentation requirements and deadlines are subject to change from year to year.
